About Judge Dawn Veronica Denaro

Judge Dawn Veronica Denaro was raised in Miami, Florida where she grew up with her parents and younger brother. In 1984, she graduated from Palmetto Senior High school in Pinecrest.
Judge Denaro returned to South Florida in 1988 after graduating from Tulane University with honors. She then attended law school in Michigan where she graduated in 1992. Before her judicial appointments, she was an assistant state attorney with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office specializing in homicide, juvenile, and domestic crimes. Over the course of her 18 year career with the State Attorney’s Office, she supervised hundreds of young attorneys, provided insight on thousands of cases and tried more than 100 circuit court cases. From 2004 – 2011 she was consistently featured as one of Florida’s top government attorneys in South Florida’s Legal Guide. Judge Denaro was appointed to the County Court bench, 11th Judicial Circuit, Miami-Dade County, in May 2011. She was assigned to the Criminal Division where she presided over hundreds of cases. In June 2018, she was elevated to the Circuit Court bench. During her career, Judge Denaro has been actively involved in local bar activities as a member of Florida Association of Woman Lawyers, Cuban American Bar Association, Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association, The Florida Bar, and the Dade County Bar Association. Additionally, Judge Denaro is actively involved in her community and is a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami and Heidi Hewes Women’s Cancer Association. Judge Denaro enjoys spending time with her husband and three active children. |
